Artograph TRACER® Opaque Art Projector
Product Description:
Artograph TRACER® Opaque Art Projector The Artograph Tracer Opaque Art Projector is a friend to novice designers and designers who need to create a banner, mural, sign, or drawing. It's also a much appreciated classroom aid for teachers who can't draw a straight line!
The Tracer takes a horizontal image such as a picture or drawing placed beneath its 200mm optical glass lens, and projects a likeness 2 to 14x the size of the actual picture to a vertical surface - an easel or wall - where it can be traced and colored. The Artograph Tracer also works with small 3D objects. Teachers use it to project to chalkboards or white boards.
As for the set up process, it couldn't be any easier. A standard 100 watt light bulb is included and the only other requirement is a dark room! Among it's other desirable features:
- At 3 lbs, it's lightweight and portable.
- Operation is both silent and cool.
- It comes with a 5 year Warranty and is made in the U.S.A.
- Larger designs and prints can be projected in sections
- Copy size: 5x5in(127x127mm). Work in sections with larger designs and prints.
This a find since there aren't many opaque projectors around anymore. So, a word to the wise is sufficient!

Besides rambling about the product, Madison has the FASTEST and most reliable shipping I have EVER dealt with, when it showed up, I was almost convinced I JUST submitted the order.
Serious kudos.
I did play around with it last night, and it was perfect. It focused easily. In my 12' wide room, the projected image was impressive. The projected viewing area was probably 7' x 10' with the projector at least 11' from the projection surface.
The energy-saving bulb included doesn't require the warm up time that some energy-saving bulbs do. It also doesn't seem to get as hot as a regular bulb, which hopefully means that we can disregard some of the warnings about the heat (which could be helpful when enlarging temperature-sensitive photographs).
Since set-up only required screwing the bulb in, I of course tested it right away. It is really impressive. The lens focuses very easily, and across a 12' foot room that 5" picture easily grows to massive proportions (I would guess at least 7' tall by 10' wide). I printed in black and white a photograph that I had reduced to outlines of the subject (using a graphics program), and it came out looking stunning. I could have easily traced the image in paint on my wall.
I am certain that I'm going to have a lot of fun creating with this item.
