However, there are always people in a capitalist society who feel as though they're being capitalized upon. There are more than 10 million restaurant workers in the United States and many of them are living below the poverty line. These individuals get a voice in the Moyers & Company: Justice for Restaurant Workers DVD when Bill discusses the current state of restaurant employees in this country.. He's joined by Saru Jayaraman who marched on Washington with disgruntled restaurant workers. Saru is the co-director and co-founder of Restaurant Opportunities Centers United. This organization seeks to improve not only dismal wages, but also benefits and working conditions for those in the restaurant sector. Saru is also the author of the expose Behind the Kitchen Door which examines how capitalist corporations predate upon their employees.
