Brazil: A South American Journey, with Jonathan Dimbleby (Enhanced DVD)
Brazil is a country of enormous contrasts and amazing diversity. In some parts, things are modern. People live well and have access to first-rate healthcare and technology on a par with the industrialized world. For others, home is a hilltop favela, or ghetto, where drug lords control entry and access to the neighborhood. Moreover, in farway remote areas of the Amazon Rainforest, indigenous Brazilians wonder if they can survive the continued incursions on their land by large corporations seeking to remove the rich natural resources.
It is this nation of so many differences that Jonathan Dimbleby explores in this DVD. As Brazil continues its march to being one of the largest economies in the world, it is important that we also pay attention to those not enjoying the progress. Dimbleby wants viewers to see the country in its totality, rather than just the subject of blurbs on the nightly news about rising stock prices, sandy beaches and samba dancers.
