Product Description:
When people with big hearts see someone in need, they want to do everything they can to help. In cases of natural disasters and serious illnesses, people ask how and where they can donate money for the people who need it. And in most instances, the money donated by these selfless people really does go to the people in need. But what about when scammers take advantage of these situations in order to give themselves a big paycheck? In this episode of Scammed, viewers will see two different charity fraud schemes. In the first case, a scammer sets up a website for a fake disaster relief agency. Donors thought they were giving money to victims of Hurricane Katrina, but the scammer was actually funneling all donations into criminal accounts. In the second case, a girl pretends to be terminally ill as a ploy to get donations to use for her own personal gain. The end result of these scams is that innocent people hear about them and then hesitate to donate to legitimate charities in the future. This episode of Scammed focusing on charity fraud is a must-see for any kind-hearted people who want to learn how to ensure that their donations end up with people who actually need them. Customer Reviews

Most of us are charitable by nature, whether we choose to give of our time as volunteers or money for those of us who are fortunate enough to do so. One way that society shows its altruism is through donations to charities during times of tragedy or need. Online charities are often overwhelmed with support from around the world when a news story breaks about an unfortunate event, illness, or unjust attack.

In spite of the large amount of good that most legitimate charities do, there remain a number of them that are created for the purpose of scamming others out of their money and channeling the profits of the charity right into their own pockets. In this episode of Scammed, two different charity frauds are unveiled: a disaster relief website that is set up to funnel the funds into the bank accounts of criminals, and another charity in which a person pretends to have cancer in order to collect donations.

These heinous charities prey on people and steal money while also ruining the good reputation of legitimate charities that truly help those who are in need. Some of the content in this program may be objectionable, and viewer discretion is advised. (21 minutes)
