The SMI WATERCOLOR ART STATION (with extensions) starts with the solid foundation of real wood. Then, a beautiful veneer of either rich oak or birch creates a dramatic piece of great furniture, finished with four coats of lacquer. A melamine top provides a stable painting surface. With the birch version, a birch top is also available. Each piece is custom made so please allow time for this hand-made process.
There are plenty of options to choose from including with or without doors. Door hinges are hidden and self-closing. The three shelves are adjustable. There are six drawers, which start with the smaller one at the top and get progressively larger as they go down. There are two adjustable extensions, making this unit very flexible. Castors do not mark floors and two of them lock to hold the unit securely in place.

The vertical partitions in the Art Station are made of tempered hardboard, also known as DPI.
SMI furniture is not intended for outdoor use. We were asked by a customer who wanted to keep this year-round in a non-weatherized garage-studio in Florida, where it never gets too cold, but can get extremely humid. The manufacturer responded that they no data available to share in terms of the material’s resistance to humidity - so not a yes or a no, just don't know..
