The art that is created by Native Americans began to be noticed by the mainstream art world in the 1970s, and this six-part film showcases that art just as it was attracting mainstream attention. In 1976, this film centers on several artists from the Native American community of the Southwest and showcase how their careers were unfolding at the time. The film shows samples of each artist's work as well as revealing glimpses of the culture in which these artists lived. Each of the six parts is 29 minutes long. Narrated by Rod McKuen, this film is a valuable look at both Native American art and culture just as the nation, and the art community, began to pay more attention to the unique artistic expressions coming from the Native American Southwest.
