The products that are marketed to and consumed by Americans are created and designed in order to be the most appealing products possible. In this three-part film, six consumer products are studied. For each of these products, its history is traced and its design is analyzed as the social impact of each is discussed. Some products are well known because of their designs, and each of these products is groundbreaking in its own way. Out of the millions of products that are sold each year, these have withstood the fads and continued to be a part of the marketplace. Each became a part of the culture of the 20th century, and each has its role in the market. Each part of this 1995 film is 20 minutes long.
