Speedball acrylics are a great choice for lovers of the acrylic medium for a number of reasons, not the least of which is their high quality for their reasonable price. Speedball paints are all non-toxic, quick drying, and water resistant.  Speedball Acrylics Mars Black is a matte black, with a slightly warmer tint (and that dries more quickly) than Ivory Black, and has extremely an extremely high tinting strength. Black may be the oldest pigment originally made from charcoal, but its popularity has waxed and waned through the centuries. Rembrandt was liked using black in already dark pictures. Today, when mixing neutral grays, many artists prefer Mars Black to Ivory Black or Lamp Black. Also, modern Neo-expressionists are often fond of Mars Black.
