Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Art Gets a Start in America Video (DVD)

This 28-minute video from 2002 is a look at the Academy and how it got its start. It was at the forefront of the American art scene when America was new. President Thomas Jefferson was in the White House when the Academy began, and it served as the first art school in the country as well as the original American art museum. It currently holds more than 200 years of American art. In this video, find out more about what going on at the Academy and how the artwork of America has changed over the past 200 years. The video even shows current art students hard at work creating the latest generation's contributions to American art.
