Liszt: Verdi's Rigoletto Concert Paraphrase Video (DVD)
Franz Liszt was a famous composer and pianist that transformed many classic works of art into new and breathtaking pieces. One particularly moving song he worked on was Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto Concert Paraphrase. His transcription of this piece has become more famous than the original music itself. By changing the bass, melody, and harmonies in this tune, he in fact created a completely new style of piano composition. This film goes in depth into this new method of transcribing music by following a lecture given by professor Martino Tirimo. He explains to his international students at the London Royal Academy of Music about the different layers of this complicated composition. Even though the learners come from the United States, Europe, and Asia, they are all united in their love and dedication to the beauty of Liszt's music. View a Preview Clip.
