This program closely examines the struggle of Goya's contradictory desires for a life of middle-class sensibility informed by a caustic perception of the world. His works are evaluated as social critiques of the time and place in which he lived, often harsh and satirical commentaries made on a culture Goya derided as archaic and prejudiced.
