Only the finest woods are selected as the starting point for these chests, available in three finishes: cherry, maple and golden oak.

The chest is of the highest quality, as you would expect from Gerstner. The craftsmanship, function, and finish are top notch. Plus the free shipping from the Madison Art Shop sealed the deal for me.

You know, its easy to give good reviews to a company when everything goes as it should. The true test for the company, is when something goes wrong and how the company elects to respond to the problem. I recently ordered a Gerstner USA chest and as luck would have it, there was a minor problem with the chest received. I notified both Madison and Gerstner about the problem. Both responded instantly. UPS was called by Gerstner to pick up the chest the next day and within little more than a week from the pickup date, I had a brand new chest delivered to my home. The companies paid all shipping charges both ways. The new chest is perfect. This is the way all companies should respond, but few do. If there is a Gold Reward for outstanding customer service, both of these companies deserve one.

As nice as I expected, in every way, given that it is a Gerstner USA chest. My order was fulfilled promptly and was received in good condition. Poured-in and expanded foam protects the contents. The 38 special is a good value.

GERSTNER 38 Special Chest

The Gerstner 38 Special chest is a great portable sized chest for carrying your collections of knives, medal and ribbons, guns and cleaning items to the range, or other valuables you need to transport. This chest incorporated the traditional lid-pin system to lock the front lid into place when the top section is closed.

Every 38 Special Chest is built in keeping with Gerstner’s legendary tongue and groove construction. Entire case is lockable. Front lid folds up over drawers and locks for security (see inset image.) Dimensions: 18" W x 12-1/2" H x 8-1/2" D; Interior capacity: 807 cu. in.

Also available with Solid Brass Hardware.
Please note that the cherry chests have brown felt and maple chests have black felt interior. Wood choices include American Cherry, Walnut or Hickory.
