Product Description:

Effortlessly wrap various skeins and yarns around the BEKA Yarn Swift. With BEKA's new change in design, the yarn swift dowels are secured in holes rather than slots, for an even more sturdy construction. This smiple, yet effective improvement shows attention to detail and customer needs.

Made of natural hard maple, this yarn swift has 4 poles resting on a wooden axis, held together by metal bearings. You'll notice a fluid motion when rotating. The poles are even removable in case you have a smaller skein, and only wish to wrap the yarn around 3 poles. Incredibly lightweight at 3 lbs and easy to assemble, this device is perfect for the beginner to expert knitter. No tools are required for assembly. Setup only takes 3 to 5 minutes!

Customers rave about the reliable, easy-to-use yarn swift, which rotates smoothly on its axis. Avoid table scratches thanks to the yarn swift's ability to sit comfortably without any clamps. The wind also twists skeins, hanks, and yarns into balls for easy storage. As one customer says, it immediately puts a smile on her face, and represents a practical form of art! What will you make next?

Great, but very large
Virginia

It works beautifully, but is much larger than I thought it would be. I agree that a collapsible version would be a big improvement. I'd hoped it would be a comfortable size to fit on the same table with my drum carder, but it's much bigger.

I initially had trouble getting the vertical dowels to stay in place during assembly, but once I had everything tightened down they stayed up fine.

my Swift had dowels too short to stay in the drilled cross pieces.
the holes in the cross pieces were drilled straight instead of at an angle to hold the dowels, so they bowed and popped out when put together. The design is cool, and I love Made in USA! I will make dowels to fit it... I'll work on trying to drill the holes at an angle to accommodate angled dowels.

I've been knitting (and therefore winding yarn) for more than 50 years. I've had umbrella swifts; I've had Amish-style swifts. None can compare with the BEKA for ease of use. I've had mine for about a year. I mostly knit with lace or fingering weight yarn, so in a year, I've wound miles of yarn on it. I've never had a skein it couldn't handle.

I'll never go back to any other kind.

I also have a slight problem with one of the vertical pieces falling out. I may replace it with one that is slightly longer. The tool works very well and really speeds up yarn winding. I wish it would readily collapse and reassemble to make storage easier.

Just received my Beka Yarn Swift. I was very pleased it arrived very quickly; not too many parts, good parts description and directions were easy to follow.
I have it all put together and am anxious to wind my first hank of yarn. I highly recommend this product, as compared to other styles and brands on the market. This one just makes sense to me for my use. Thank you!

Well I have only gotten to use it once, but I really liked the swift. Sure beats holding the skein around my knees. And it was super easy to put together. And the price was right. And last but not least it came in a timely fashion.

I love this yarn winder!!! I buy a lot of hand dyed yarn in skeins and my old winder stopped working because the threads stripped on the clamp. It sits perfectly on the table and moves so smoothly. Thanks for a great product, and thanks for a great price.

I was a little concerned about the contents of the package as the condition of the box was not great. Also an awful lot of rattling coming from inside. All was well though when I opened it. Went together quite easily even with a slight user issue. Swift sits level on the table and turns as it should. Still looking for just the right spot to store it but that is not of great concern at the moment. I am still awaiting delivery from another company for my yarn winder and that is the reason I am only giving 4 stars at this time since I have not been able to test drive it so to speak. I feel at this time if I incur any issues when I can use it for the first time they will be of a user nature. There is a great video on youtube demonstrating the Beka so I will watch that again.

This was a replacement for an umbrella type swift that broke. I am extremely happy with the BEKA. It was easy to assemble. I processed 7 hanks of yarn immediately without any of the problems I had with other swifts. I highly recommend it to others.

This swift is great! It was easy to assemble and is easy to use. I have previously used a wooden umbrella swift, but the knob to hold the tension wouldn't stay tight. The shipping was very fast and the price lower than what other shops sell it for. I highly recommend both the product and Madison Art Shop.

The Beka swift is an absolute pleasure. Wish it was available
years ago! And Madison Art was a pleasure to deal with.

I was surprised when the package arrived and everything was loose in the box. But nothing was broken. The wood is good quality and was easy to put together. The only problem was that 2 of the dowels kept falling out. No matter how I pared them up, of where I put them, they fell out (positions across from each other). But when I put the yarn on, there was no problem and all of the dowels stayed securely in place.
Using the swift is easy. It moves easily, but doesn't swing so fast that it winds the yarn back on itself. In fact I am currently knitting directly from the swift, instead of making a ball of yarn. I would recommend this marvelous invention!

I can't say enough good things about this swift. All my veteran knitting friends now look sadly at their umbrella swifts-the beka is the best. No need to worry about it coming loose from the table or collapsing in the middle of a skein. I can set the beka on the floor and wind from the comfort of my sofa, or sit at the table and just go! I was also thrilled with Madison. Their price was much less than everywhere else; so low I was almost afraid to order-it seemed too good to be true! I received my swift less than a week after I ordered it, assembly was quick and easy, and I had wound a skein using my nostepinne less than 20 minutes after UPS dropped the box on my doorstep (it also works great with my knitpicks ball winder). Wonderful product, wonderful shopping experience.

I have an umbrella swift and arthritis; therefore, I'm unable to tighten the wooden nob properly and it would loosen right in the middle of winding a hank of yarn.
The Beka swift has worked great each time I've used it and I was able to assemble it with no problems. It arrived in just a couple of days, just as stated on the Madison website when I ordered it. Thank you.

Easy to assemble. I bought it because there is no need to move pegs, or adjust the swift to fit the hank. The yarn slides down and self- adjusts. Nicely crafted and easy to use. Anything is better than my husbands hands!!

The Beka swift is the best one I've ever used. I didn't have any of the troubles some other reviewers mentioned - my dowels were all fine and don't seem inclined to fall out. The swift puts so little tension on the yarn as it's wound that I didn't have to re-wind the ball as I usually do before beginning to knit. I would unhesitatingly recommend it. And the price was good too!

Mine took a little longer than 5 minutes to assemble, because two of the dowels were a little too short and kept falling out. Not Madison's fault, of course, but I think it should be mentioned to the manufacturer, since I read here others had to make modifications as well. Anyway, I love love it. Very fast and smooth. Best price I found.

This design is far better than the more common "umbrella" yarn swifts. I especially like that I can handle it with just my two hands. With an umbrella swift, I need my two hands and usually have to borrow one or two of someone else's!!

The Madison Art price, low shipping cost and lightning fast shipping speed make this an easy 5 stars!!

The Beka yarn swift is a great product. Better than umbrella swifts. I wound 5 skeins of yarn the day I got this swift. Not only is the Madison Art price good, the shipping fee was quite affordable. (One yarn site wanted over $30 to ship it.) I'm recommending this to everyone in my knitting group.

Everything about the Beka yarn swift is great except that mine came with one loose dowel - or rather the opening for one of the dowels is too large and it keeps coming out. It was easy enough to fix with a rubber band and I was too eager to use it to think about sending it back. The Madison Art price was the best on the internet and it really does work like a charm.

One of the vertical dowels keeps popping off. Not a tight fit. The others are great. Overall works really well. [Ed. note: The new revised Beka model (now on sale) should have corrected this from happening again.]
