Pure Sable or Kolinsky is the finest way to make a watercolor brush. However, a close second is this hi-tech fiber and production method that rivals some of the finest Sable Brushes.
Back 20 years ago nylon or other synthetic fibers would make a fair student brush. Today, with advanced technology, we can achieve a brush that almost matches the finest Sables. Our 7000 Series is our current generation of advanced synthetic brushes.
To design this 21st century brush we enlisted the aid of renowned water media painter Steve Quiller as our guide.
Years ago synthetic brushes were not much more than chopped up fishing line bundled up and stuck on the end of a handle. They were horrible for the user, especially for the young student who often received this budget priced creation. Today, we have the ability to taper the strands of fiber so that each strand comes to a fine point. With careful selection of 11 different weights of fiber strands we can gently mix these into a marvelous brush head. The mixing of the weights is critical. With just the right amount of thicker fiber you can get just the right amount of hard snap to the brush. With the perfect mixture of a variety of thinner fibers we arrive at the perfect color carrying blend.7000 Quiller Round Series
In selecting the perfect synthetic round brush, it must have a firm needle point, a body that will carry a large load of color and last, but very important, a body that will allow the color to gently release and not flood out on the paper. The 7000 Series of brushes is a wonder and just a fraction of the cost of natural hair brushes. These brushes have a beautiful gold seamless ferrule and is mounted on a Classic Matte Black Handle. This is truly the watercolor brush of the future! Try it now!
