A controversial new experiment in adolescent education is taking place at Geelong Grammar School. Developed by Martin Seligman, a psychologist, Positive Education is a program designed to foster optimistic thinking in the same way subjects like reading and math are taught. We are introduced to Seligman's theory that happier students learn better, as well as the challenges teenage students face in adjusting to his program. Teachers also weigh in with their own concerns about the new program. While some students do well, others seem to struggle with the radical new concepts in their Positive Education class. Will these students learn to think more optimistically? Why does the program seem to work better for some but not others?
