Premium Water Color Paper! Cold Press Watercolor Paper Please note: this is "Mill / Mould Made Paper", as opposed to "Machine Made Paper". It is Cold press (not Rough). However, Mould Made Paper, even in a CP, can appear rougher than Machine Made Paper.
Many artist appreciate the more "natural" and desirable texture of the Mould made Papers.
Here is a quote from Colorado State University:
"The best papers are mold made or hand made. Mold made is a machine process but the fiber is shaken in both directions before pressing so it has no direction. Hand made is too and is much more expensive due to the labor involved. The higher the quality of paper the better the results with the medium that is being used."
It's all about texture... with fibres having no direction... to a WC painter it is like Candy! The machine made papers are very regular in pattern... cheaper and not as desirable to a real die hard.

(The Arches brand is actually 640 sguare grams(gsm) not lbs. Richeson’s paper is comparible, maybe even a little more heavier. Richeson’s paper is internally and externally sized, which gives it better “lifting” quality. It also does not give off that “sulfur smell when wet.)
