Product Description:
World War II changed the way music was perceived as well as the way that it was created. In this 52-minute video, the viewer finds out how music responded to the war and how it changed the way people thought about music. The sound of composers who created music in Europe before the Second World War and the sound of those who composed after the war are contrasted and the differences highlighted. Europe had been transformed in many ways, and the music that the people in Europe listened to reflected that dramatic shift. Stravinsky and the music that he composed after the war is highlighted in this film. He used techniques that were new in his time to create a new sound for people who were looking for beauty and change.
